Cabo San Lucas Marina at night
The first inhabitants of Cabo San Lucas date back 14,000 years to the Stone Age. These folks did not thrive so well, as explorers in the mid 1800’s found only 2 houses and a total of 20 residents. Since then, the word has gotten out about the climate, beaches, fishing and nightlife. Today, Cabo San Lucas is home to 55-60,000 people and a steady stream of visitors on land and by sea. The city pulsates at night with the influx of tourists and cruise ship escapees. If you’re looking for “quiet, romantic” this may not be the place

El Arco, on the way to Lover's Beach
The point of land known as Cabo San Lucas is a popular attraction not only because of its famous rock formation ‘El Arco’ - the Arch – but also because of the excellent sport fishing in the area (you’ll find a large fleet of rental boats) and the rich marine life which attracts numerous divers. Marlin of the blue, black and striped variety, abound. Sailfish, dorado (also known as mahi mahi or dolphin fish), tuna, wahoo, roosterfish and endless varieties of bottom and surf fish. Cabo is, by far, the world's very best all around location for sport fishing.
The main beach at Playa Medano, is one of the great people watching spots and Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach) is a must see short boat ride away from the Marina. Usually no danger of isolation at Lover’s Beach since it tends to be a popular spot because you can literally walk from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean side in a few minutes.

El Squid Roe, one of the many night spots
The nightlife is what gets the younger crowd going in Cabo San Lucas. Nightclubs
like El Squid Roe, Hard Rock Cafe, Cabo Wabo and the Giggling Marlin, present
numerous opportunities to ingest tequila from an enabling server who carries
an ample supply strapped to his back. Some folks get real creative
and they perform this feat with their feet tied hanging upside down.
In 1990 rocker Sammy Hagar of Van Halen opened a nightclub and restaurant,
The Cabo Wabo Cantina, with the three other members of Van Halen. In the
mid-nineties he bought out the other owners, his band-mates, and assumed
complete ownership of the club. To this day it is one of the most popular
attractions in Cabo San Lucas. He is known to play live at the club
at least once a year with his band, The Wabos on his birthday, October
13, and shows often include many famous guests and friends from the music
industry.
